absolutely freaking DEVOURED this book. i LOVE a tatted man wiling to burn down the world for his woman and kade mitchell is indeed, that man. kade is unhinged, but the way leigh rivers writes him doesn't feel completely insane. i wanted to hug him, honestly, especially given everything he was forced into. so much of his attitude is a front for pain. stacey (i hate that name, but that's a me problem) also has a lot of unresolved trauma. at times, i got frustrated with her. however, her behavior was understandable to me. her way of maintaining control and staying strong, is, to some extent, dealing with everything quietly so as not to endanger those closest to her. both kade and stacey operate from the principle of wanting to protect those they love, and i think it's beautiful, if not misguided at times.
the tension between kade and stacey was flying off the page. the yearning was heartbreaking.the amount of times i wanted stacey to just TELL him what had happened to her, but understood why she couldn’t get it out. the flashback scenes were also precious — something about falling in love for the first time always tugs are my heartstrings. reading some of the s*x scenes on the metro in public with a straight face: would not recommend lol. there is a lot of spice, so if you're not into reading that or want a super well-developed and intricate plot, this is prob not the book for you.
i def had Qs about plot & things that didn’t fit together and/or WHY things were happening, but obviously it didn’t stop me from absolutely tearing through the book.
off to read the next!
