The storyline line was pretty good. What ultimately did me in was the way the characters were constantly in their own heads. The miscommunication trope was heavy here. In each POV, they were angry at themselves, at each other, at their situation. Always second-guessing themselves and overthinking what the other person might be thinking, and yet they NEVER JUST TALK TO EACH OTHER! Honestly, I have enough of this kind of anxiety in my daily life, I don't need it in my fiction too.

I told myself that if the truth came out and things started looking better by the end of this book, then I'd go ahead and read the second one. Buuuuuut no... Just more of the same and no change in sight as far as I can tell. I'll see myself out.

Completely unrealistic but absolutely enthralling 😂 Addictive. Couldn’t put it down.
fast-paced

This was my first real upgrade in the dark romance world after Haunting Adeline, and I was hooked. Kade completely stole the show for me, complex, emotionally layered, and refreshingly human for an MMC in this genre. Both leads carried trauma that shaped them in a believable and raw way, and I appreciated how much emotional weight was packed into their story.

I docked a star because the book started to drag toward the end. Some scenes felt like filler, and while I get the cliffhanger approach, it left me wishing the pacing had been tighter. Still, this one made me fall in love with the series. I devoured it.
