This was my first real upgrade in the dark romance world after Haunting Adeline, and I was hooked. Kade completely stole the show for me, complex, emotionally layered, and refreshingly human for an MMC in this genre. Both leads carried trauma that shaped them in a believable and raw way, and I appreciated how much emotional weight was packed into their story.

I docked a star because the book started to drag toward the end. Some scenes felt like filler, and while I get the cliffhanger approach, it left me wishing the pacing had been tighter. Still, this one made me fall in love with the series. I devoured it.

What a rollercoaster! This was such a great debut novel from Leigh Rivers. I was instantly captivated and it held my attention through the whole book and I couldn’t put it down. Even all the way to the end, there are still so many questions left unanswered. And what a bomb of a cliffhanger. Stacey and Kade are messy, toxic even. They both have so many secrets they’re keeping from each other and from the rest of their friends and family. I wanted to shake them both so many times. If they would just tell each other their secrets then all of their problems would be gone, or at least they could work on resolving them together. But not only do they have secrets, they hold so much resentment for each other.

The full cast narration on this audio was brilliant. East character what cast perfectly. I love that there are so many voices, even for the side characters.
