I thought I would like this dark romance, but unfortunately I did not. A positive was definitely that it was fast paced. I was never bored and I was compelled the know what was going to happen next. The underground plot that was happening was interesting to learn about and to see unfold. Those are basically the only good things about this book.
I didn’t like either main character. I didn’t like any of the side characters. I didn’t like how the only character with a modicum of sense was the one locked up in an institution.
There were also way too many sex scenes. I know it’s a romance, but it was constant, and in both the past and present time line. On top of there being too many, I didn’t like the way they were written. They were repetitive and they kind of made me cringe.
My biggest problem was the miscommunication though. He NEVER lets her tell him her side of the story. It’s infuriating. Stacey also doesn’t tell him something very important going on at home that is traumatic. The miscommunication is extremely immature.
I’m disappointed in this one because I thought the plot would be enough to be interesting, but I will not be continuing this trilogy.
