4.5 stars.

The Dispossessed series by Page Morgan is – in my opinion – one of the lesser known, under-appreciated series in the YA Paranormal genre. I absolutely adored the first two books in this series, and couldn’t wait to read the final installment. What I love the most about these books is that – aside from the awesome atmospheric descriptions and the historical setting with a paranormal twist – they all feature some truly kick-ass female lead characters. Ingrid and her sister, Gabby, are strong-willed and determined, while still embracing their femininity. Then you have Chelle, who as a member of the Alliance is good with weapons and wears men’s clothing. And yet, she, too, has a softer side to her, which comes out a bit more in this book. I just love how fully developed and well rounded all of the girls are in these books; it just makes everything else I loved about this series even better.

LOVED.IT.SO.HARD.

This is one of those books that snuck up on me. I'm not a huge historical-anything fan because it involves keeping track of dates and timelines which for me, feels an awful lot like "mathing". (The mild form of dsylexia I have makes numbers a challenge sometimes.) BUT, when the audio for The Lovely and The Lost came up for review last spring, I took one look at that cover (the blue one), read the blurb, and decided to give it a shot. Because gargoyles and Paris.

I'm so glad I did!

Side note: If you're into audiobooks, these are ones you need to check out. The narrator does a beautiful job of bringing the characters and their world to life.

When I realized it was a sequel, I made a bee line to my library for book one, The Beautiful and The Cursed book (the pink cover). Page Morgan does a fantastic job of weaving together multiple POVs to give readers more than one character to champion. The same goes for the relationships too. Instead of only rooting for one couple, there are several, each with it's own set of issues, tension, and complications, but all of which I wanted to see end in HEA.

Seriously, this is the first series I've read where I wanted ALL THE SHIPS!

And the other three behind it too.

The prose alone is worth reading this series. It kind of makes anything I've ever written look like this.

As I told Page Morgan when I had the chance to meet her at ApollyCon, I want to live in this world she's created, be a part of the story and it's characters.

Historical fiction, mystery, and paranormal romance, The Dispossessed trilogy has a little something for everyone and The Wondrous and the Wicked is a gorgeous, heart-achingly romantic end to this series!

Read it.

"It was startling how accustomed she'd become to naked men waltzing about."

"However, as he took a step closer to the bed and tilted her chin up,
she understood that he no longer wished to be a gentleman."

Gargoyles! They were the top haitus of the year! Not only with Jennifer Armetrout's final book of the "Dark Elements" series but with the final novel of the "Dispossessed" series!

After the events of the second book, Ingrid and her family are in danger not only by Axia, the evil angel who wants to destroy everyone, but also from the gargoyles of Paris who want her sister, Gabby dead. Luc is the only one who can stop them but only if he takes the role of the elder.

On the other hand the Hunters will try to help in every way they can but that isn't always good for Inrid and her friends.
Through many third POVs we get a full idea of how the story moves without getting lost. It's a challenging tactic which I highly recommend to the readers. But the main center of the book was how all the relationships progressed. I will not spoil you, there are tears and some unfair endings (to my opinion) but the surprise is Luc and Ingrid. I loved every scene of them, every shared dialogue and thought! Add the historical setting in the beginning of 20th centur and you have a marvelous ending which will be remembered!

Loved every part of it and certainly I will read anything the author decides to write next!

I'm not really sure this story needed to be told across three books, as things felt a bit repetitive this time. A marvellous standalone or maybe a duology would have been great, only so much time can then be devoted to love triangles and dastardly villains with a fairly unchanging plan.

Still, it was a nice world and there was fun to be had. The ending felt right, and I will keep an eye out for this author in the future.

I give this book 3.5 stars. I did enjoy the end of this series. I still enjoyed Ingrid character and the world that was built was so was super fun and engaging to read about. The story did become predictable at points but it was a very fun ride. Grayson death did make me sad. Hope she writes more book soon!
