Bored and weird mix between fae and Arthurian

I really enjoy retellings. Especially when they go way outside the box.
Arthur would have made a great king but his death paved the way to do much more.
Prophecies abound and nothing is as it seems.
Veyka is broken. Losing Arthur has her spiraling out of control. Losing herself to her depression. At least on the surface. There is more to her grief but revenge is always top of mind.
Arran is the perfect person to reach her and share in her revenge.
There is more to Veyka than we know. I can hazard a guess about what is really present deep inside her but this book left us hanging!
I cannot wait to see what book 2 holds for everyone
Thank you to Netgalley and Emberly Ash for this book. I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Fast paced and interesting Arthurian retelling. I was hooked from the very first pages and couldn’t put the book down.

The dual POV worked well for the storyline. I liked both the FMC and MMC and found them both to be interesting characters. I liked their character development, both individually and together, and would have loved to learn more about their pasts.

The side characters seemed interesting and I would also like to learn more about them.

The storyline itself was interesting and full of action. I’m interested to read the next book in the series and see where the story goes next.

Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC! Receiving ARC didn’t affect my opinion of the book and I’m voluntarily leaving a review.

Thank you Netgalley for granting me access to this book in exchange for an honest review.

The authors note in this book! I honestly think it is one of the most beautiful notes I’ve read✨

Slow, Angry Burn

Veyka will make you hate and love her from chapter to chapter. Arran’s loyalty is admirable. The spicy scenes take a minute to get to, but once they arrive, I definitely was eager for the next!

3.75 ⭐️ I went into this not knowing it’s an Arthurian retelling. I generally do not go for fairytale retellings. However, this one is done really well. The Arthurian story really is the background basis to the main storyline and the two main characters are not Arthur, Merlin, or Gwen. I enjoyed this one. Totally should’ve seen the cliffhanger though. I enjoyed the banter between FMC & MMC.
