I devoured this book. Iβm not a huge fan of King Arthur based storylines but this truly captivated me. The world building is detailed but not dragged out. The character development in engaging and the realistic relationships are a refreshing change from the usual romance books. Throughout the book, there are plot twists youβd never see coming.
The main character has a lot of self-reflection after her brothers death and I sympathised with her a lot considering her traumatic childhood and unrealistic expectations from everyone.
The romance was SPICY. Enemies to lovers. Hate-sex and possessiveness. The constant attraction and tug that canβt be explained. I loved it.
And the fact she was CURVY? Chubby queen all the way

God this book was like a roller coaster. I loved the way the author built the tension between Veyka and Arran but I wasn't 100% convinced on their relationship. There was a lot of lust then oop Arran loves her, make it make sense. The cliffhanger at the end obviously makes me want to read the next book but I'm not really sure where it's going to go

This book started off really well - it had an interesting plot, relatively likeable characters and good world-building. But after like the 55-60% mark, it just started getting ridiculous almost. The inner dialogue for the two MCs was getting so repetitive, the plot was derailing and going all over the place and so much was happening for pure convenience. The last maybe 5% of the book picked up again though.
I might finish the series - it had a cliffhanger ending that has me intrigued enough to potentially go back!

Why oh why is there so much womb imagery in the opening chapterβ¦

I was completely sucked into this book from the dedication, and struggled to put it down.
I loved the way the way the book swapped from Veyka the FMC, to Arran the MMC, and how much steamy tension there was between them. One of my favourite parts, that had me grinning like a fool, was when they met, and then met again!
The trauma and healing journey that Veyka went on was remarkable, and it really resonated with me. I sobbed, then raged, then sobbed again while reading.
And can we talk about the huge cliffhanger this book ends on? I had to start reading book 2 straight away, because I needed to know what happened next!
π»πππππ π° πππππππ ππππ: dark fantasy, steamy tension & romance, enemies to lovers, fated mates, dual POV, healing after trauma, she's a curvy bad*ss, he's a beastly warrior but a simp for her, diversity, mental health.
π’ πππ¨: depression, suicidal ideation, death of a loved one, grief, violence, child abuse (including low detail memory of r*pe), consensual sexual scenes
βI received an ARC of this book from the author. All thoughts are my own honest opinions.β
