The age gap in this just really turned me off.

Taken in as ward of Lord Drakon after her parents' slaughter.
Forced to navigate a new life, trying to become what is required of her
in a world so vastly different than what she had known.
Then Attica, Kingdom of the Wytchlings, moves to rise again.
Territories long alienated are forced to unite. Secrets begin to unravel.
Secrets that make her question everything.

She is Amylia Sylvers.
And she is about to show the world
that even the most unexpected …
can burn the brightest.

I liked the world building overall and it had potential but I just didn't love the book. I didn't buy into the poly relationship between Amylia, Cess and Griff and then that they were Mates. The character development wasn't great and while I do like a strong woman lead I just didn't love Amylia. The one page rape scenes between her and Mica as a plot device for her pregnancy was frustrating and upsetting.
With the epilogue reopening open the door for the next books (Mica isn't really dead and he wants to steal the baby) I honestly don't know if I'm invested enough to see what happens.

This book confuses me a little because you get everyone’s point of view… even the bad guys.. and the love interest, how pure and sweet it may be, was a little weird to me. It felt like they were cheating but it was okay to do so? The beginning and ending of the story was fastpaced and good but the middle was meh.. I won’t be reading the next book. 2.5 stars

I immediately moved on to the next book in this series!
This book has:
-magic
-found family
-mates (FFM)
-pregnancy
-CW: sexual assault
-fast moving plot + relationship
-so many lovable characters

I thought that the relationship between the MCs was a bit rushed and it made me cringe because the age gap is wild and she’s so inexperienced. I’m not a fan of the pregnancy trope but it wasn’t badly done and the pregnancy was kind of pivotal to the story, not just the HEA in the epilogue.

Trigger warnings all over

I finished the story despite disliking it.
From the age gap romance trope ick, past so much cruely inflicted pain and death, to the forced marriage and pregnancy.
All of it interspersed with spicy scenes between the couple hundred year olds and the 1 year old MC.
Pass this one up

I started this story on audible because I caught one of Laura's lives reading the next book. I liked her code, so I checked it out self was immediately dran into the story. The found family in this series is absolutely everything! Add to that a hot throuole, a kingdom on the brink of war and a traumatized woman coming into her own powers? Perfect recipe for a series that will rip your heart to pieces in the best way!

My second 5 ⭐️ read of 2023!

This has been on my tbr for months and I’m so angry with myself for not reading it sooner!! I really enjoyed this world and the FMC ❤️‍

My main thought is why did I wait so long to read this!
Wow … just wow.
This book was fantastic, this world is well built and full of history and compelling characters that you connect with. I loved the characters, there were moments where you were angry, sad and then laughing out loud!
It’s a slow burn, the relationship is beautiful to watch unfold and the spice, 🥵.

▫️Fantasy Romance
▪️Poly Relationship
▫️Spicy

Check your triggers tho, there are some heavy themes in this book.

But the main question is do I think you should read it! Hell yes. Go now.
