It took me a while to get into it. I ultimately became involved with the story, but the plot tried to tackle a lot and I lost interest a few times.

I was excited to read this book because it's from Roxane Gay's press. The representation and thoughtful approach to relationships and difficult decisions to be made in a capitalist, racist, sexist, homophobic, and ableist world were insightful. However, I felt like the book wasn't fully plot or character driven. It was slow for me and didn't feel super interesting until like the last few chapters. I also didn't feel like I believed the romance between the characters. I wish it was more compelling!

Was very excited to read a sapphic romance with such diverse representation but honestly it was just kind of mid. I wasn’t super invested in the characters or the plot, neither was as compelling as I was hoping.

Come for the romance, stay for the thoughtful approach to living as ethically as possible in a racist, sexiest, capitalist world!
