Well, that was quite a large stack of somewhat unexpected fairy porn. Including tentacles, goblins, turning people inside out and actually a fair amount of plot (albeit most of that being relationship building, so if that's not your bag, you'll be bored).
My worry is that there are loads more books in the series and I can't see how the plot arc can stretch over eight more of these hefty books without getting repetitive. After all and I'm not sure how much I can take.

The only reason this book gets four stars is because of the world-building LKH does. Her Faerie Courts are well-conceived, with court intrigue that is in turns humorous and deadly. Such a shame that about 40% of the novel, and those that follow, is filled with descriptions of the characters, which some of us at the old LKH message boards (when I say old, I mean 2001-03) called 'Skittles'. I truly lament the fact that, once again, LKH has fallen prey to Anne Rice Syndrome. You know what I mean. Brilliant author that started to believe her own press and decided that editors are for pussies.
I listened to the audiobook of this as part of a re-read and enjoyed it.
As much grief as I give LKH, she does make interesting worlds with interesting ideas.
I may re-visit the subsequent books in this series again, but I'm currently undecided.
