Lovely character development and fairy court intrigue, lots of sex and beautiful fairy men.
Quite an entertaining introduction into this rather unusual alternate reality.
The ending is terrible. Just skip it and go for the next book. =)

I was quite curious about this books, I had read and received mixed reviews about it.
In the end I did not find it particularly intriguing. Not much of a plot, not much steam, it seems somewhat unfinished. I'll try the second book but I liked the few books I read about Anita Blake much better

3.5 stars rounded up to 4 because it was a lot to set up for future novels.
I really enjoyed this group of characters and the world the author created. I'm not a huge fan of how the main character had to have a sexual relationship with almost every male she met, but the author did explain that it was just sort of the norm.
The ending wasn't my favorite. It doesn't make sense that we're going back to sort of where we all began after all that's happened. However, in a way I'm glad because I'd like to see more of Jeremy and Roane in future books if possible.
Really excited to keep reading these, especially as I'm back to school soon and will be seeking out some guilty pleasure reads!

I thought it was going to be a detective novel that had paranormal elements. But it's really more of a erotic porn thing. I will say it is very well written and the story carried it. I suppose for someone who really likes romance, this would be good, but for me I just found myself wanting more of the story and less of the endless descriptions of clothing and desire and sex.

3.5 stars. I enjoyed it, but I had a hard time connecting with Merry, and the constant descriptions, while beautiful, were a bit much for me.
