This is my second time reading this book and it was just as good as the first time. I have actually read the entire series and it is one of my favorites.....
Addedum-4/18/14: The Meredith Gentry series remains one of my favorite and I don't think I will ever tire of reading these books. It is very rare for me to read a book more than once and this is my 3rd time so that right there speaks of the magnitude of my enjoyment!!!!!

I've read this several times before, and also the entirety of her other series, Anita Blake. Hailton doesn't shy away from multiple sex scenes in her book, but in this series, at least there was a clear reason for all the sex very early on, unlike the Blake series, where it gradually became more and more explicit, to the detriment of the books.
In this one, the first one to produce a child wins the throne. Merry has unlimited access to all the Queens guards, while trying to avoid death plots lead by her pyscho cousin, who is also in line for the throne.
Yeah, it's pretty rauchy and definitely not vanilla, but I like these characters anyway. A fun re-read, it's easy when you already know the characters.

Gee, I wish this series had stayed as good as it was in the beginning. I don't mind a lot of sex if it means I get a faery fantasy series, but when the plot gets dropped altogether in favor of EVEN MORE sex, it's a fail.
I thought this book would be dull, smut normally is, but this smut far exceeded my expectations... all the chaacters are hot... thekind of hot that wants to make you stick your hand down your pants while you read... I enjoyed the writing I never knew who would be the focus of the next scene...
