Ok book. I thought that the author was way off in his reality with life. This book was from a 7 year old boys point of view. In reality, it should have said it was from a 15 year olds point of view. Not real life. That was a bit disappointing.

I love everything he writes, and this one didn't have lawyers. He created a great sense of place so that you felt you were living on a farm in Arkansas in 1952 without running water, a bathroom, A/C etc. But you had the movies in town once a week. Interesting to tell a story thru the point of view of a seven year old. On the other hand, it seems like he listened to a Bobbi Gentry song and wrote a book based on that. Whatever, I thought it was great.

Grisham was able to published this novel because he IS John Grisham. Ultimately a pretty little snooze fest, quaint and steadfast, with a few glimmers of interest.

Simple book, point of view of a child on a cotton farm in rural south. Quick read, i enjoyed even if it wasn't very plot intense.

A surprising book by this author because it is nothing like his typical "lawyer" books.
