This was a nice story with a sad, but also happy ending! I enjoyed how different it was from his other book that I've read.
my favorite Grisham book. I just love the time period, the simplicity of life, and connection of multiple generations under on roof.

Meh. This was an okay read, but it was also a surprise since it was such a departure from Grisham's usually fast-paced courtroom dramas. The story is told from the point of view of a seven year old, but I had the hardest time believing that when reading this book (maybe because my suspension of disbelief is broken?). It was alright... not bad, but not necessarily great.
Really gives a perspective of life on a farm in the South in the early 50’s. Told from the perspective of 7 year old Luke. His tale is about how his family gets by while hiring Mexicans and “Hill people” to help pick cotton on their 80 acre farm. Life is hard and baseball is the means of escape as they listen to their favorite team lose throughout the end of the season analogous to their struggles on the farm. Good lessons about treating others fairly and with respect in order to get along in life, but sometimes, life doesn’t play fair
I couldn't put this one down. Not his usual courtroom drama, but a down on the farm story that really draws you in.
slow-paced
Wasn't a fan...... creepy.... disturbing..... action filled in some parts..... boring in others... I would read it again and maybe I would have a different view but when I read it the whole thing was over my head.
