Levana's story is really interesting! I absolutely loved getting to learn this side of her and her childhood.

I hurt a lot right now. No character in any book that I've read has made me feel so alone. I was told this book was something completely different in regards to the rest of the series. It was. It's as fantastic as the rest of the series but I feel emotionally crippled right now.

This added a layer of depth to Levana and solidified my hatred for her because she among other things. Anyway, I flew through this and a few things were cleared up for me that I was kind of confused about before. I loved how this connected with the main series, but I kind of wished it'd been threaded through the books instead of a whole book by itself. It would've been nice to have learned all of this while reading the main series, but I guess with so much else going on it would've been difficult. Anyway, I still enjoyed it immensely! As per usual with Marissa Meyer's books....
I'm going to go read the Winter excerpt now! Yay!

Usually love villain stories but I feel like my thoughts of this book will change once I read Winter.
Overall pretty easy read for me. Predictable at times.

Hated every second of it, but I think that was the point.
One of those “side novels” that significantly changes how you view the “main story”.

I originally wasn't going to read this, since I didn't really feel it was necessary, but I was intrigued by the little bit of backstory Levana shares in Winter. While I don't know that I'd say this novella made Levana sympathetic, it does provide a window to understand her. Wow is the royal family messed up. Levana's not an exception, obviously, but I feel like the fact that she had her husband assassinated is on a different level.
Big Oof™
Lots of drama. Lots of mistakes. Very annoying. But what else would you expect from a story about Levana.
Didn't make me feel sympathetic towards her story like Heartless (also by Marissa Meyer) or Wicked (the musical), but it's still another side of the story that I liked knowing.

This wasn't as good as the first three books, but I can't decide if that's because of the book itself or because Levana is so incredibly crazypants that I couldn't like her. Worth reading for fans of the Lunar Chronicles.
I was a bit cautious going into this book as I had heard many people say it wasn't that great, but I really enjoyed it. It was really interesting to get to know more about Levana's backstory and to finally understand her motives.
Her motives definitely don't justify the awful things she did, but it made her a much more interesting villain and at times I did sympathize with her.
That said, it was sometimes hard to read from the perspective of someone who eventually became so evil (she is the Evil queen after all), but my overall experience reading this book was great and I can't wait to read Winter!
