This wasn't as good as the first three books, but I can't decide if that's because of the book itself or because Levana is so incredibly crazypants that I couldn't like her. Worth reading for fans of the Lunar Chronicles.

I was a bit cautious going into this book as I had heard many people say it wasn't that great, but I really enjoyed it. It was really interesting to get to know more about Levana's backstory and to finally understand her motives.
Her motives definitely don't justify the awful things she did, but it made her a much more interesting villain and at times I did sympathize with her.
That said, it was sometimes hard to read from the perspective of someone who eventually became so evil (she is the Evil queen after all), but my overall experience reading this book was great and I can't wait to read Winter!

Fairest by Marissa Meyer is book 3.5 in The Lunar Chronicles. This is a novella that gives you a little more background on Queen Levana.

While it was nice to see more of a history and backstory on Levana it didn’t make me loathe her any less. She is terrible then and now! My gosh what a messed up family. No wonder the princess was smuggled out!

I did enjoy it though! It was a quick read that provided some additional info and answered some questions I had. I did like that it provided me with more insight into Winter since she had been introduced in the previous book and the next book is about her!

I am loving this series!

The mental gymnastics Levana puts herself through to justify her actions is so incredibly disgusting.

Such an interesting book and take on the Evil Queen story. You both hate and sympathize with Levana. Really enjoyed it!

I have to admit, this was my least favorite story of the whole series. I don't really know what I was expecting, if it would redeem Lavana, cement her as the worst being ever, but it was definitely more of the later in my opinion. I loathed Lavana in the regular books, and I loathed Lavana in this story. For me, it didn't really add anything to the awsomeness that was Cinder, and her story, and I don't really feel like it was really needed. I am glad that I read it, because now I know for sure, Lavana was a nightmare, from start to finish.
