The one instance where I am so glad the movie doesn’t follow the book. I knew it wasn’t for me when the author tried to convince me that this 20 something year old had never worn a thong before?? GTFO.
Skip the book, watch the movie.

It my defense, I read it on a cruise. It was in the ship's library. Not my fault. The other book I had with me was Middlemarch. Which would you read on a deck chair?
The book is not the movie. When I finally accepted that fact, I started enjoy the story so much more. If you've seen the movie, then you know the basic storyline, but don't picture Anne Hathaway and Meryl Streep in the the lead roles. Instead, think of Lauren Weisberger and Anna Wintour as the lead characters. It will work so much more. Granted, this story is probably only good to a certain segment of the population, but since I am part of that segment, I thought it was wonderful.
I usually avoid these kinds of books like the plague (I am a huge snob, after all), but sometimes their popularity reaches such a fever pitch, I feel like I have to read them. That's certainly what happened with The Devil Wears Prada. I didn't hate it. It was funny enough, and the characters were definitely colorful. I can't say I loved it or was especially challenged by it, but it was a nice summer read.

One of the few times I liked the movie more than the book
