Warren and Maisie were childhood lovers who married young. Maisie left their small town to pursue her dreams in the city, but Warren stayed behind on his family’s ranch. Years later, Maisie is back in town, demanding a divorce so she can marry someone else. Warren is still in love with her and asks for a chance to remind her of what they had.
Warren, ugh. He was determined to keep Maisie, and I was here. for. it. One of the swooniest, sweetest MMCs I’ve read in a while. He planned dates using memories of their past, and things she loved to remind her of all the love they shared. He was so gone for her, and never dated anyone else. He built her dream house and learned to cook for her. And the necklace 🥹
These two were definitely meant to be. I loved watching their old memories mixing with who they were now, forming the most beautiful relationship.
I absolutely loved this book! I was hooked right away… one of those books you don’t want to stop reading, but you also don’t want it to be over. It was an amazing start to the new series and I cannot wait for more.

This one took me by surprise because the story is actually quite simple and is very reminiscent of "Sweet Home Alabama" - but I really really enjoyed it.
I'm going to chalk this up to - good writing. I mean, very emotive and smart writing so the story moves at a good pace. I was entertained & enthralled - and that's with the pre knowledge and familiarity with the story.
Loved the MCs, specifically Warren. At first, I was wondering if he was a bit of a pushover - but no, he's just a go-getter. He hadn't gotten over Maisie and so he goes & gets what he wants. He waited, she didn't but there's no lingering animosity or hatred because of that.
The story does involve cheating - you can debate the circumstances. I'm fine with cheating in fiction but if it's not your thing, you might want to read the TW (she is still engaged when she comes back.) Even that, it's not overly dramatic and the narrative is quite matter of fact - so I liked that it wasn't some long, drawn out battle with a villainous ex.
Yes, highly recommend. This one will surprise you.

I loved it. My first book by this author. And it is book 1 in a new series. Highly recommend! This is a second chance romance. It was so romantic. The emotions really held a punch. I laughed some but mostly was swooning and awwwing. I'm already excited for book 2!

Let me start by saying that Sweet Home Alabama is one of my all time favorite movies (Reese is a forever girl crush!), and when I realized that this had serious Sweet Home Alabama vibes, I FELL COMPLETELY IN LOVE!
I was very curious about Warren and Maisie during the last Sugarland Creek book, so I was looking forward to this one very much, and their second chance romance was beautiful! When I tell you I laughed, I swooned, I cried, I had to fan myself (Warren, SIR, that mouth!), just alllll the emotions; I don't think I could have loved them more!
The way their second chance came about, their banter, how much Warren LOVED Maisie & respected their vows, but also how he respected her boundaries (to an extent hehe), to how he went about winning her back, ugh I can't get enough of him! ALSO, Maisie, my girl,,,while I was all about her doing what she needed to chase her dream & become her own person, I looooove the side of herself that Warren & being back in TN brought out in her. How he helped her to realize there is more to life than working...One of my favorite moments is honestly their big fight & what they both realized coming out of it. No spoilers, but seriously the "aha" moment for them both!
I could go on and on because it was one of my favorite reads this year, but I'm gonna cut it short... ;)
PS: I LOVE that they have a huge family and have great dynamics, just like the Sugarland Creek series! I cannot wait for more to come from them!

although the narrative was bound around a rather complicated situation I appreciate the author giving her readers a heads up- it helps set expectations for the story
the main couple were cute and it was nice to see them bond and have that history to back up their emotions, giving their relationship depth
however,i feel the author made the second love interest a little cartoonishly evil towards the end just to solidify the first choice- like given how murky the situation was and how the fmc took some accountability personally, i wish that was fleshed out more- the end fell like a cop out
and maybe i'm reading too much into this but like the second half was lowkey giving right wing trad wife propaganda with the whole your using your work as a shield when you should prioritize family- look i'm the number one advocate of a good work life balance and all but like the message felt a little misplaced at first- but i'm considering she didn't leave her job so that's a win? i'm a little iffy on this point, but overall it was a fast-paced small town second chance read

A second-chance romance with high angst and a tonnnnn of tension! Super enjoyable read and I will definitely be on the lookout for book 2!
Constructive review: I didn’t feel the timelines of this story fully made sense with the MC actions. I did sort of choose to ignore the timeline and still thought the story was well done overall. I was given an ARC, this is my free and honest review
