I enjoyed the characters in Red String Theory more than a lot of romcoms I’ve read. I like when the main couple has more stakes than just their romance, and I definitely got that from this book. The family dynamic was interesting but didn’t leave me fully satisfied. Very easy read, wholesome, minimal to no spice.

I had been waiting for months to listen to this book so when it was finally my turn I was giddy! I loved the narrating but over the course of the book my giddiness became ennui.
Rooney Gao is a street artist and believes in fate and the red string theory. Jackson Liu is a scientist with NASA and only believes in science. After crossing paths several times in the same day, Rooney tries to show Jack their meeting repeatedly is due to destiny. Despite having a great time with her, Jack doesn’t believe it. Six months pass since that one magical night and they end up crossing paths again. This time Rooney is determined to get him to believe they are fated to be together.
I really loved the beginning and middle of this book. It drew me in and had me laughing out loud. Unfortunately the last third dragged on in what felt like a never ending loop. This could have been 50 pages shorter without losing any of the points to it.
I really loved the way this audiobook was recorded. Normally audiobooks with alternating protagonists have each narrator read their parts, including all the dialogue, but in this one the dialogue was read by the corresponding narrator making it a very pleasant and interesting listen, despite the boredom brought on by repetitiveness.
