I just lost interest. Might pick it up in the future but I wasn't in the mood for it I think so I just wasn't grabbing for it
From the beginning I debated DNFing this book. It felt very bland and I wasn't feeling the spark between the main characters.

This book moved me to tears, I absolutely adored everything about it and loved it was a great palette cleanser after reading a lot of dark thrillers! I highly recommend to anyone that wants a cozy romance read.

This one started out slow, but I'm glad I stuck with it - it picked up and ended up a very cute story! I especially enjoyed the space facts and trivia; it's always fun when you can tell the author is genuinely excited about a topic. It made the MMC's passion for his work feel genuine.
Having studied art and art history, I read that aspect of the book with a more critical eye. I didn't love the string art stuff, although I get that it tied into the plot / theme. Still, it felt like a stretch for the FMC to "make it" with that particular medium as big as she did in the book. I can admit that I'm probably being over critical here, but it did make me roll my eyes a little and that contributed to my overall rating - so I feel obligated to mention it in the review, haha

3/5 ⭐️
1/5🌶️ (kisses and glimpses only)
A cute contemporary romance. I picked it because I have always liked the idea of the red string of fate. A very light read.

Way too much filler and the story dragged so much.
I wanted to like this so bad but it was truly background noise. It had the possibility to be really great but I felt like there was a lot of filler and fluff. Like half of the dialogue could’ve been cut in half. Also it almost reads like a YA novel because it’s so PG. There wasn’t even any closed door spice and I’ve read YA books that had more tension between the two love interests.
I actually related to both Rooney and Jack when it came to the idea of fate and choice. I believe in both depending on the day. I related to how they both felt passionate about their opinions and that’s kind of where my interest stops. The hotel scene had so much potential but it was so lackluster??? Also Jack deciding it wasn’t gonna work because of his parent’s letter made absolutely no sense to me. I didn’t understand the fate tests at all or what the purpose was. This book had so many filler scenes that weren’t integral to the story in my opinion. Even them confessing their love to each other took too long to get to the point.
I will say I enjoyed the duel narration a lot where the male read all of the male parts and vice versa. I wish more books did that. I did enjoy this quote: “Control is an illusion to help you feel a little bit better about the chaos that is life.” I felt like that was for me to hear because I can relate to Jack in the way that he tries to plan for everything.
Someone brought up the fact that each character had to have a relation to a white person and I agree. Rooney is half white, Jack has a white grandmother, her mom’s new love interest is also white. Sometimes I wonder if authors know they can write a story that doesn’t always involve whiteness in some way and that other races/ethnicities exist.
Overall if you want a very fluffy romance with virtually no spice or tension then this is for you.
