BL Book Club member Jordan started reading this to H earlier this week, but we finished it today. Stellaluna is a classic (and I didn't realize it was a debut!) about a baby separated from her mother, and feeling confusion and shame at not being able to do the same things as her temporary adoptive family even though there are similarities. The artwork is exquisite (we also picked up [b:Verdi|970061|Verdi|Janell Cannon|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1347311292l/970061._SX50_.jpg|2415351] during this library trip), with pen and ink illustrations of Stellaluna's mother looking for her on the text page across from the full illustration.
Honestly going to go through the reading rainbow books, probably.

Story of a courageous child and a mother's love. My children never get tired of this one.

Finally read this children's classic! A great book for teaching that the ways we are different are not good or bad- they just ARE!

Quite literally the most important book to me. I was given this book by my kindergarten teacher on my birthday and I will never forget how it made me feel. Thankful it exists :)

Cute story about a fruit bat, but my youngest only cared about the mean owl. She liked the movie version better.
