A rather repetitive read but also a tale of total ineptitude and lack of concern and care for the men involved. Not a tale to inspire about military organisation.

This book was enthralling yet easy to read. I could not put it down, and in turn ended up reading through the night until I was done. It was informative and at times, heart wrenching. Highly recommended.

Horrible book; informative, yet gross (military negligence and what the men did to themselves).

A gripping tale of the birth of the Atomic Age
Michael Harris's book is a riveting account of his experiences during some of the first atomic bomb tests after WWII. It's humor doesn't soften the grim reality of life on Eniwetok island, but does serve as a welcome counterpoint to the seriousness that the subject demands. My only quibble is that I found the language and phrasing to be a bit awkward at times, but that did not detract from my enjoyment of the book.
