It's a modern classic. The story is appalling at times (i.e. graphic wound descriptions) but intriguing, and seeks to inject some hope into our modern day indifference.

It’s tough because the film had definitely picked the best quotes. And there are still things I’d change and bits I’d flesh out more (the film makes Tyler a more interesting standalone character before the reveal). However broadly really enjoyed it and like Palahniuk’s style. He clearly takes a lot of his cues from the Beats, who I also love, so no surprise there. Would like to read more of his stuff - have heard Choke is good. Afterword is lit.

This is the 3rd time I have read this, and every time it gets better. It ages with the reader very well, as you begin to relate to the character in different ways. Chuck P has always impressed with this book, and this very well may have been his peak. The writing style is like none other, and the way he describes and works with his characters is second to none. When you are done reading, you feel as if you are Joe's Protagonist...
