This was not bad. Not as bad as her last one, at least. I'm getting sick of all of her characters (in every book) eating the same meals, though. You like pasta with clam sauce, Mary. We get it.
I liked this one...though I can't say it was overly exciting, or even surprising. I had pretty much figured it all out, including the "twist" about a 1/3 of the way in. Unusual for Ms Higgins Clark as she usually leaves one twist just for the end. The characters here felt flat, the idea of "antique reproductions" was a little flimsy to me and not all that exciting. Gus bought his daughter a fancy house and set up an account to make sure it was paid for and NO ONE knew where he got the money? Dad has a twin brother, but because they were born on 12/31 and 1/1 they were never treated like twins to avoid a curse? Just too many odd pieces that sort of forced the mystery.
It was a nice easy read. I always enjoy her books but this is not one I will be going back to again.

A big fan of Mary Higgens Clark, and this doesn't disappoint! Very involved plots and hard to figure out "who done it." Always enjoyable and a quick read.
Once again this author doesn't disappoint a great read enjoyed all the twist that it took me till the end of the book to figure out what happened. Great read.
Actually a 3.5 - I really liked the storyline, but I felt like it was really slow pace and I also felt like Higgins pulled a Karen Kingsbury in the way she ended her chapters.. If you've read Kingsbury you know what I'm talking about. But I was satisfied with the ending and pretty much the second half of the book, once it picked up.
This book kept me guessing all the way through, it was a great plot and I didn't want to put it down, any lovers of Mark Higgins Clark books will love this and if you haven't read anything by her before then you won't be disappointed if this is your first book.
I think that most of Mary Higgins Clark's book kind of follow the same structure/plot and this book was no different. I used to really love all of her books, but her most recent ones have fallen a little flat for me. I don't know if I have just become more well read or if she has sort of lost her touch, but I felt like this was kind of corny and predictable. I still think it made a good, easy and entertaining read and there did end up being a twist that I didn't quite see coming, so if you like an easy suspense novel to read, I would recommend this one.
Slow story, characters are unrelatable and underdeveloped. There is no connection, no drive, and no incentive to turn another page.
Would I Recommend this book? NO.

Good stuff, classic MHC. I enjoyed every minute of it. It had all the usual twists and plots that keep you guessing and wondering. I recommend to anyone who usually enjoys her work!
