I enjoyed this, but it was pretty easy to figure a lot of it out. Personally, I felt the story was really unbelievable. I found it annoying that the main character did so many dumb things. I also would have liked a bit more character development and way less tangents.

This was an enjoyable listen! Richard Boyle is an English teacher who foils a previous student's plan to detonate a bomb at his former high school. While Richard is hailed as a hero, a sub-plot of seedy characters sees this as their chance to take advantage of Richard's fame and fortune. Several plots mix together in a well orchestrated storyline. I enjoyed the listen!
3.5 stars
Wowza! Sometimes a heroic decision starts off a series of events that results in chaos and tragedy. I Will Ruin You hits the ground running and never slows down. I enjoyed the fast pace and it kept my interest the whole way! I knocked it down half a point because one of the narrators was better (George Newbern) than the other for me so the listening experience wasn’t always the best.
*Thanks to HarperCollins and NetGalley for the audiobook copy

5 Stars from me!
This is a superb example of classic Barclay at his best. Much like one of my all time favourite books (Never Saw It Coming also by Linwood Barclay), it is fast, exciting, thrilling-without-being-scary and has a solid storyline.
It offers a hard-to-put-down reading style with a 'just one more chapter' feel to it, meaning that I raced through it in just two sittings. With a practiced and perfected blend of drama, thriller, crime and psychological, there is something for everyone within these pages.
What else is there to say, fans of Linwood Barclay will love this book!

Teacher, Richard Boyle, becomes a hero when he manages to talk down a former student who tries to blow up the school, avoiding a major tragedy. This brief moment of fame attracts a blackmailer who is out for revenge and Richard quickly finds himself caught up in a dangerous web of lies.
I listened to the audiobook of this story and I enjoyed it, but it didn't grip my attention as much as Linwood Barclay's previous books have.
The storyline was good and the characters well written, as always, it just wasn't one of my favourites.
My thanks to NetGalley and the Publishers for sending me this ARC in return for an honest review.

Definitely a face-paced mystery/thriller that kept me invested. I thought I had it figured out, but I was wrong. 3.5/5
I just could. Not. Stop. This is one of those “I have to know what’s next” reads. I really got into the face-paced plot and characters. However, some of the poor decisions just didn’t really vibe with me. I’m a high school English teacher and had a soft-spot for the banned booked story line weaved throughout. I also wanted a little more with Rachel’s character; there was definitely room for development since she was mentioned multiple times throughout. I enjoyed this one so much that as soon as it ended I downloaded another of Mr. Barclay’s book to get lost into!
