I tried so hard to get into it, and it was slow and felt like a dream scape, but not one I wanted to be in, and then it got to pedophilia, and that was it, I was done trying. I've never stopped reading a book 30 pages from the end, but I made an exception.

2025 book club book #1

Loved most of the writing style, hated almost everything else. A miserable, racist, self-loathing, and pedophilic protagonist does not make a particularly fun read. A rare case of the movie managing to do a better job than the book.
