Meh, this one doesn't quite hit like the two before it, IMO. 3.5/5 but rounded down.
I wanted to love this book. Really badly. And it was good, but not great like the first two. It was just lacking something. I’m not exactly sure what, but it’s something that the first two had that this one didn’t.
I thought the main characters were likable and I liked them both separately and also together. I thought their romance was fun and sweet and real. But again, something was lacking.
One thing that I can say that I didn’t like was that there was a lot more telling than showing in this one. Whole periods of time would skip and it didn’t feel seamless like it did in the first book when we were told of Butcher and Blackbird’s yearly “game.” It left me wondering what happened during those periods and just felt like chunks of the book were missing. I get the timeline was supposed to pull together the previous two stories but it just kinda made it feel… messy? Borderline unreadable if you hadn’t read the first two books because so much was left unexplained and expected for the reader to remember. Like we get to the muffin factory and some names are thrown around and I’m like WHO? What?? Why is this girl shot and why was other kidnapped by this man I have no recollection of

First review I’ve written on here but this trilogy is my absolute favourite, just this minute finished Scythe & Sparrow and it deserves all the praise!
I love these characters and the writing is intense and brilliant, but when it’s funny, it’s absolute laugh out loud funny!
Chapter 9 - ‘Sutures’ = *chefs kiss*
It has everything - longing, squirm-in-your-seat comedy, honesty

this was a lot better than L&L, but still fell short of the fun i had with B&B. maybe it's because B&B was the first book and i had zero expectations going in, and it was just trashy fun, so perhaps i'm judging S&S a little harshly.
that being said, this was a breeze to get through. the plot was fun and entertaining, although i wish it would've gone in more depth for certain plots, like what fionn was doing in croatia, rose's murderous side hobby, etc. also, there was just, so much smut in this. way more than L&L. i'm not a big fan of smut so i just skimmed past it all.
except the cotton candy scene, because of course that caught my eye. tutti frutti butt plug is insane work. also the description of "pleated hole" YOU'RE KIDDING ME RIGHT. why would you write that.
my issue with this series is that all the FMCs' voices just blur together. they all feel like the same character. the men are somewhat unique from each other, but they have zero personality outside of rowan. lachlan in B&B was lovely and i thought he'd end up being my favorite, but he turned out to be the most insufferable character in the entire series, which was so disappointing. fionn felt like a wet rag for so long so it was nice to see him unhinged, but then he started feeling a touch like lachlan, minus the broody batman bit.
i really don't have much more to say at this moment, mostly because it's nearly 4:30 A.M and i'm exhausted, but.
i loved B&B. hated L&L. liked S&S for what it was.
oh, one more thing, though. the blurring timelines was irritating as fuck. the author just REALLY wanted to write romances for all three brothers, which i see the appeal in, but these books ended up being simultaneous POVs of merging timelines of events, like the "climax" of L&L except in S&S it's written from fionn's and rose's povs. it ended up being confusing because a multitude of events were being consolidated into 1-2 pages to rush into the whole run-off from L&L
i don't know. i found it annoying. this book wasn't terrible but it wasn't great. i think i'd have rated this higher if it weren't for the whole crossing of events just written from different povs. it felt lazy. also, now that i have the context of S&S, i really hated that rose and fionn's relationship was just thrown at us in L&L. and if rose was in B&B i literally don't remember her.
definitely a choice the author made, and not a good one imo.
oh well. it's finally over. soo la voo i'm free.

Me parece que el tercer hermano Kane merece mejor inicio, no me ha atrapado nada ni me ha hecho reír como me hicieron las otras dos novelas desde el principio.
