Loved this book. Thank you, Jae. The characters were well developed and the plot was good. I see a second book, with these characters, in the future?! I look forward to it. I loved the Aunt.

I read this as part of Jae's 2021 reading challenge and I am in love with it. I don't normally go for supernatural elements but it really worked for me here. I liked the nods towards her other books as well. I would give this 5 stars but I think it fell off a bit during the last 1/4 or so of the book. Not enough to stop me staying up past my bed time to finish it though

rep: Persian-American lesbian mc, lesbian mc, lesbian side character
theoretically everything abt this book is good, starting with the premise (i mean come on, it's basically a soulbonding au!) & i was so ready to love it. and yet....
the writing felt very stiff at times, what with more telling than showing & with constant inclusion of thoughts in cursive. i didn't really connect with any of the characters & thus the whole Coming Out To Family arc didn't leave much of an impression on me and even felt resolved kind of too quickly?
i can't say it's a bad book! i can't even truly put my finger on what it is that made me so indifferent toward it in the end. but i had such high hopes & they weren't really met :((
they used the word "bisexual" once!! so i guess i have no right to complain right :)

Just like any other book of Jae, this is very well writen and with a good plot. I like that personages come back in the writer other storys. It will make a world of it's own to follow different personages and their story.

The ending seemed to happen pretty abruptly but maybe that's because I didn't want it to end.
