4.5 rounded up. what a time!

Dracula is one of my all time favorite books. I didn’t expect to like this book so much. I was fully immersed in this story and loved it. Maybe because I am such a fan of Dracula.

if you loved the classic dracula, you NEED to read this! this was the perfect story to read for october. following the notes left by bram stoker himself this story tells the origins of stokers ideas behind dracula and what haunted him to tell the “truth” of dracul. this was so spooky and i loved the similar writing format also used in dracula which was a nice touch.

4.5 stars.

I have never been bothered to read Dracula, and I only purchased this originally for the cover but having finally read it, I am now wanting to read Bram Stokers original novel.

not this book making me believe in vampires…

More than a 4 for sure, but it was just a little too long for me. I don't think more should have been edited from it though, I'd vote for two books. I listened to it, which pretty much kills your ability to dally over gripping parts and breeze over filler. It was quite a gripping tale, deliciously Gothic with a full cast performance that to me is the epitome of the delivery of a Gothic tale. Had this been a radio program back in the day, people would have been glued to their sets. Does anyone know if it is being adapted for film? It was written so descriptively and then performed so well that you could imagine it all quite clearly in your head. It would have been inappropriate to do it any other way, but I still appreciated that it was the classic romanticized vampire story, with all the familiar powers and weaknesses, and not some of the crazy stuff that we have seen over the years now. I don't actually recall reading the original, but I've downloaded it now...

The bram stoker fanfic i needed.

I loved everything about this book and read it in one journey. The references where interwoven amd very rewarding to find and it was everything from a horror to a lovestory to a coming of age. An obsession in me has taken hold.

Bram nand matilda and ellens story was amazing to see unravel and Thornley and Emily's was heartbreaking and horrific. This book gave me the character depth and work that surpasses the dracula story I'm my opinion (although I do love it dearly).

The ending was open and perfect and sad i loved it
