this was a fun and twisty read! only reason it's not getting 5 stars is because i guessed the major plot twist and one of the smaller twists, BUT i still had a fun time with this one. this one had me gripped from the beginning with those opening sentences: "i woke up with bruised knuckles and blood under my fingernails, more rested than i have been in years. i guess this is who i am now. the kind of person who would finally get a good night's sleep after attacking someone else." my only complaint is that i wish the chapters in kaavi's POV were alternating with the chapters in amaya's POV instead of kaavi's chapters showing up later in the book. i feel like this would have added an extra element of depth to the book, but it was still easy to follow and know when kaavi's chapters were taking place.

3 1/2 stars for this Sri Lankan Suspense.

This book was fun, I know that is weird to say about a suspense novel, but there it is.

“…it was nice to see all of the comments -
‘Kaavi, you’re so beautiful!’
‘Kaavi, where did you get your dress from?’
‘Kaavi, tell us about your make-up routine?’
Seriously, everyone thought this shit was real. My make-up routine is three different types of foundation and fifteen minutes on the Facetune app, bitches. Calm the fuck down.”

Part insider look into the lives of the rich and famous, part expose on the real lives of influencers, mixed in with a Crazy Rich Asians, Sri Lankan-style and a dash of who-done-what and you have YOU’RE INVITED.

There were some nice reveals as the story unspooled and the bonus ending was a surprise, but was it really? Are we really surprised? Lol.

This mystery won’t keep you up thinking about it days after you’re done, but the book is worth the read for just getting introduced to Kaavi. The girl just doesn’t disappoint!

Talk about a book that was written for me. This checked off allllllll of the boxes for me, had all of my favorite tropes, plus so many twists and turns and secrets and shady ass characters.

Maybe it's just feeling this way because it's so fresh in my mind... but this might be one of my favorites of the year, at least in the top 10.

Thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. Twists and turns towards the ending. Lots of drama but also filled with some sweet heartbreaking moments.

I was expecting a bigger focus on Amaya and her obsessive tendencies from her initial stalking of Kaavi, so was a bit disappointed on that front. The pacing was also weird.

Loved the Sri Lankan setting and the author's writing style! Will definitely check out more of her work in the future.

Umm could not stop reading this one. I didn’t trust a single person and I did not see every one of those twists coming- my head was spinning.

3.5 stars.
