More like a 3.5. An amazing end with twists and great anticipatory writing, but it took way to long to get to the point.
4.5 stars rounded to 5.
I loved this book. The main character is completely unhinged and I love an unreliable narrator. I got this book at a library sale last year and had never heard of it, I never see anyone talking about it - but it's a must-read! I put it on my TBR because it's wedding themed and it's my wedding month, but it's so much more than that. A story about strong women, awful men, friendship and family, and what we'll do to get even. This book was a complete surprise and I loved going along for the ride. The end was great and I was entertained the entire time. I did the first 30% or so on audio and finished the rest on paper and flew through it.

I didn’t like this one at first but it was very twisty and had me guessing the whole time, so by the end I enjoyed it a lot more and thought the plot was clever!

So this was a really fun and entertaining book to read. I devoured it in basically a day. And it was hard to stop reading because I wanted to know the answers to everything.
However, I can’t say I was surprised at anything? And ultimately, the way things are woven together at the end, if I think about things too hard, I feel like the plot will unravel. But I was honestly so entertained I don’t really care too much.
Was this a masterpiece? No. Was it a good source of entertainment for a day and a half! Definitely yes.
I will say, though, if you don’t like unlikable characters, this probably isn’t for you. Also, this was really different than I thought it’d be. This is definitely a high society thriller/drama, social media influencers and class discussions included. I don’t usually like reading about rich influencers, but this worked for me.

Enjoyed the twist
I was looking for a little thriller for the fall, but this fell short. I don't think this was a thriller so much as it was a drama. It started off strong, but I felt it followed Amaya's story by itself for far too long and Amaya isn't all that likeable. I found the story picked up once we got to Kaavi's side, but still not as much of a thrill as I was hoping for. This one was just ok.
this was was tough to rate because I liked the setting and characters, all of the behind the scenes looks into the well off residences of Colombo, Sri Lanka. That was really great to read.
Then we got to the mystery and it just wasn't all there. Not that anyone was asking me, but a few notes - this contains spoilers:
1. the jumping around in the timeline didn't really seem to play well into the story. It lead to having our main character being an unnecessarily unreliable narrator, which could have been avoided as that didn't serve a story purpose. And it didn't do the pacing any favors.
2. the twist at the end seemed forced and without context.
3. and finally, all of these people were horrible. There was no justice for the innocent man who didn't even get a POV (despite so many in the story) who was blamed for everything despite only doing too good at his job and pointing out accounting issues that the "victim" was not interested in seeing.
I probably could have forgiven the last one if the mechanics of the first two had worked out more smoothly.
