Tries to be _Crazy Rich Asians_ meets _Gone Girl_ without the charm or cleverness of either.

Not as thriller-y as I expected, but the authorial voice was excellent, and the atmosphere was perfection!

This book is about a woman who discovers that her ex best friend is getting married to her ex boyfriend and goes to her home country of Sri Lanka determined to stop the wedding. I liked this book but there was something about it that just didn't click for me in the way it had and likely will do for other people. I really enjoyed the setting of Sri Lanka and the way the book talked about the weight of tradition and family expectations. I also thought Amaya was a very interesting main character and I did like following her. I also did like the plot twists and thought that they made sense though I was never really surprised as I did guess some of them. While I liked this book and thought it was a good thriller something about this book just didn't click with me and I don't quite know it was. I would still recommend this book especially to people who are new to thrillers or don't read that many of them.

If it’s a mystery that takes place around a wedding, there is always some twists and turns with all the crazy drama.

I think the whole point of this book was for rich people to just be awful people for over 300 pages. I didn't think any of the "twists" were twists because I saw every one of them coming. This book annoyed me so much because absolutely no one was likable, just all bad people because they can because their rich. Gross. 1/5

Interesting book, suspenseful with interesting twists but wasn’t a fan of the ending.
