1984 is one of my favourite books ever and genuinely one of the books that made me fall in love with reading across my very short life so far! I have read the original version and really need to get a copy for my physical library that I really like (trying to keep a similar editions theme going at some point!). The version on Goodreads of the Amazon audible adaptation with an all cast production isn't available (it is on Storygraph) and so I have chosen to review the original.

The casting and the narration is incredible - Tom Hardy as Big Brother is *chefs kiss* as well as Andrew Garfield, Cynthia Erivo and Andrew Scott taking the roles of Winston, Julia and O'Brien respectively.

I was so captivated in listening to these characters being brought to life through the adaptation and it really took me back to the original book.

1984 is a must read for all out there and really is an exemplar of how a book should be. It is a classic that has never lost its value and continues to be referred to even today and with no doubt it will be referenced for many more generations to come.

Orwell’s 1984 delivers the political-philosophical depth and enduring relevance I value—an iconic work that still resonates today. The pace can feel slow and the characters mostly serve the ideas, but that doesn’t diminish its impact: 4.5/5.
