Like much of the authors other writing this book was beautifully written. The author has a wonderful talent for character reflection and natural dialogue that really makes the story guide itself. While I was not crazy for the theme or all of the characters I still thought it was a title worth reading if you enjoy the authors other works.

Pretty good narrative on one summer in a full life. Maybe two chapters too long.
Emily - her character from Our Town; Maisie - her husband’s aunt who owned the cherry orchard; Nel - her grandmother who taught her how to sew.

I loved this - maybe a hot take based on what I’ve heard from others, but for me it was just what I needed rn. Centers around a mom and her family on a cherry farm in Michigan that is home bc of Covid. Super cozy, sweet and easy to read. I also listened to the audiobook performed by Meryl Streep which was a masterpiece of its own. Def reccomend for my Michigan gals.

SHE GOT PREGNANT IN A PSYCH WARD BATHROOM?????? this was just so out of left field it was crazy

Overall a kind of dull book to be honest. It's reflective and slow-paced, but it's more so that it doesn't dwell within the characters all that much when it isn't directly telling you about them. Emily has a temper, Maisie is kind, Nell is the baby, and that's really all I can say about them. I would've probably quit it if Meryl Streep hadn't been the narrator tbh
