After reading the Columbus Affair, I had an expectation that this stand alone book would be much better than it was. The flow was a bit rambling, the character didn't seem all that deep and the general history felt like it was stuff that had been leftover or reused from past novels

Historically accurate, historically fanciful, charming main characters, religious strife, betrayals, devious foes, and a somewhat tidy end. A good, typical Berry read. Dragged and repeated some for me, though I enjoyed all the things I mentioned before.
