Wow seriously worst cliffhanger ever!! I can't possible wait till April!! In the beginning I was so Pro David, you know star-crossed lovers all, but now I don't know. Sorry David in the last book you being jealous was so over-rated and very annoying. Tamani...oh my! His so hot!! But then again he is always so tense. I don't know!! Well this is definitely one of my favorite series and Aprilynne Pike gets better with each book!! Five stars all the way!! :)
Drama is escalating.Massive Mystery surrounding Yuki and Klea. And Laurel, CHOSE ALREADY :/
I also love how chapters from Tamani's perspective were woven through. I feel so bad for him. He'd do anything, literally ANYTHING for Laurel, and she dumps him aside until she needs him to protect her. Poor Tamani.
He's known her for practically 19 years of her life, and he's loved her 19 years.

I love the characters in this series. My only wish is that Laurel would finally make a decision because the David-Laurel-Tamani love triangle is getting a little old. She is finally getting closer to a decision but she needs to make it in the next book. This book wasn't as exciting as the last one but that is the only reason it lost a star. This one kind of ended in a cliff hanger and I can't wait for Destined to release next Tuesday. I hope we finally find out who or what Klea is, what the trolls are planning and what Yuki's role was in the whole plot? I read this too quickly! At least I don't have a very long wait!
I'm glad that Laurel is starting to stand up for herself! She's definitely growing as a character and I love where the books are going!
Pretty good ^-^ I really appreciate how the author gave enough possibilities that, at this point, anyone could end up with anyone. It's like a love-octagon. Well, not quite, but it's still fun XD However, if they try to put Tamani with Yuki I'm going to be seriously miffed. Like, chuck book four out a car window in front of a van miffed. Personally, I love Laurel and Tamani together, but whatever. My opinion doesn't really matter, does it.
Regardless, pretty good book (even if the ending was random)

So good! Way better than # 2 . Lol just wish there wasn't such a horrible cliff hanger!!!!!
I was excited to read this book and to be further into the story but I didn't receive much information from it. Everything seems the same besides everyone's relationship statuses and new info about Klea and a mysterious wild faerie. Other than that it was an okay read. I would rate it a 3.7.
Also beware of freaking cliffhanger!
Also beware of freaking cliffhanger!
This is a series that I had considered giving up on after the first book. Laural seemed obnoxious (like a really annoying vegan, who proclaimed to the world just how sick processed foods and meat made her feel) but I decided to give it another shot (mostly because her annoying tendencies were explained by her fae-ness) So I read the second book, and, you know what, it was actually kind of good... well, good enough that I wanted to give the third book a try, and I'm really glad that I stuck with the series. Each book gets better as you go (at least, they did for me) and I found myself actually liking this book. Wow. I know, it was a shock to me, too.
Although, it was by no means perfect, and it was, by no means, a 5 star book. It was just enjoyable. (I feel like I'm relying more and more on how much I enjoyed reading a book to give them a good rating. Oh, well. To me, if a book is good I have to like reading it.) It even had some of the issues that existed in the first few books (like the food thing. I'll give you a [paraphrased] example.) When Laural invited Tamani over for Thanksgiving and she commented about her mom's cooking "The rosemary smelled good, if you could ignore the scent of meat mingled in." Um. Is this character development or a hidden agenda? (I'm sorry. I promised myself that I'd never say anyone had a hidden agenda, but it's just so annoying) I don't care about how much she hates meat! I don't care!
Then there's the relationship drama. I can't tell if the main focus of this book (and this whole series) is "Who will Laural choose?" or, you know, what should be the plot, which is defeating the trolls. Fun Fact: They went to two school dances in the course of this book. Two. I didn't need to read about their two school dances! Once again, I don't care! And then there's the fact that Laural is being a huge bitch to both guys, but they just can't seem to realize it. She's obviously in love with Tamani, so that's not fair to David (who she's dating) But she can't seem to let go of David, and that's not fair to Tamani OR David. The only reason that she was with David is because she didn't want to be mean and break up with him, but the problem was that by doing that she was being mean to him. The other thing I hate about this situation is that it is exceedingly obvious who she'll end up with. The one she couldn't stay away from when she decided to "take a break from boys"
I seem to be better at complaining than praising, but that doesn't mean that the book didn't have redeeming qualities. Like... Klea. I liked Klea as a character because you didn't know if you could trust her. She wasn't worryingly nice, and she wasn't completely evil, either. (that's the problem with a lot of characters. If they aren't a villain they'll instantly be best friends with the main character, and if they are a villain they'll be super-evil-no-mercy-no-remose-I-hate-everyone, which works for some villains but not for others)
I also liked the Yuki storyline, for the most part. Okay, no I take that back. I liked Yuki, I didn't like some parts of her story. Like the fact that Tamani had to pretend to date her. That infuriated me. He was being an ass. Laural was getting jealous, even though she was with David, and I felt so bad for Yuki. *cough* sorry, I'm complaining here in the praise section, but it had to be said. Anyway, I can't say too much about the parts of her story that I liked, because it would be major spoilers (like, what happens in the last scene spoilers) but I did like the reason that Yuki was important.
And then there's the enjoyment factor. I looked forward to picking this book up (despite the relationship drama, despite Laural's annoyingness) and, to me, that's worth something. If I could I would give it 3.5 stars, 3 for the story and .5 for the enjoying it, but I can't do that, and I'd rather round it up than down.
