I really like this series. I wish I would not have waited so long after Spells to read Illusions, because there are some people/events that I don't quite remember, but it isn't to hard to find my way again.
I really liked the first book in this series, but they've slowly been going downhill for me. I had a hard time getting into this one and couldn't remember exactly what happened in Spells and the author didn't rehash it at all so I was a bit lost.
The story didn't seem to move forward that much. Pike is probably going to stretch this storyline as long as she can. Not sure if I will keep reading them or not. I love the Tamani character...but not a huge fan of Laurel (the main character).

First book I ever DNF.
I could not tolerate the predatory attitude of the love interests or the boring narrative and plot or the tasteless writing. The translation of this book was horrid.

13 yo old me loved the tension between Laurel and Tamani and oh my god those kisses after the fight made me feel the strongest butterflies - that’s all i remember from this novel to be honest. it was one og my favorite books back then and i strongly believe that the kissing scene was not the only reason why, but to be honest, i cannot pinpoint other arguments for that. it was cute, it was romantic, it was magical, it was perfect for me at that time. don’t know if i would like it as much nowadays, but the sentiment is too strong.
Can't believe the ending! How long do I have to wait for the next book?! I'm officially hooked on this series. :)
just read.... I'm finding that teen fiction isn't well written (perhaps because of the intended audience) but the stories are capitvating. So read and shut off your brain. Major cliffhanger ending... I will be at the store April 28th NEXT YEAR (sigh) picking up the last book.
Hate Laurel. Want her to be with Tam just because (for some odd reason) he makes her happy. Yuki's a slut. Klea's a creep. David and Chelsea can both leave now. Ryan can come give me a hug.
