OH MY GOSH!!! This was amazing!!
Going into this, I wasn't sure I'd like it. I've never been a big zombie fan, or an Alice in Wonderland fan (nobody kill me). But, this book...it changed everything.
On the zombies: they were not the Hollywood-follow-you-around-with-outstretched-arms-grunting kind. They were spirit things and you had to leave your body to fight them and it was totally awesome!
On Alice in Wonderland: a few similarities, namely her name, a white rabbit cloud, and a club called Hearts. Other than that, not much on that front.
The writing was fantastic! I loved the dialogue; it was so adorably awkward and real and I just wanted to hug it (which should totally be possible)!!
Ali was a great character. She was so strong and stubborn and if she wanted something, she got it. And she didn't compromise her beliefs about stuff, which I really liked. Cole was like a younger, hotter Dean from Supernatural. Take from that what you will. Kat was awesome! And Frosty wasn't half bad either. Long story short, I loved all the characters. Except the zombies because...ew.
So, even if you have reservations about zombies, or Alice in Wonderland, or whatever, just go read this! You'll love it, I guarantee. I know I did!

Really awesome twist on Zombies, very much enjoyed reading it. My fav is Kat, every girl needs a friend like her...judgement free loves you for you!
ok this is a reread of a book i lovedddd as a kid. i’m keeping the rating 5 stars, because that’s how i originally rated it when i was younger, but this review is with new (much older) eyes.
i totally understand why i loved this book when i was younger. it’s fast paced, the romance is exactly what 13 year old me would’ve wanted, and the found family is found family-ing. that being said. it’s not good.
for a 13 year old in 2015, this book is killer. but as an adult, the dialogue is incredibly dated. the magic exposition book is too convenient. ali’s curiosity gives way for the author to tell rather than show. and every bit of information is spoon fed to us. it’s juvenile.
i also generally don’t like reading about 16 year olds now that im 22, so that definitely made me like this book less. especially when reading about steamy make out scenes between the teens. and it’s far more christian than i remembered (which i don’t enjoy in fantasy/paranormal books).
i think there are a lot of good life lessons in this book, and it really is good for the audience it’s intended for. but that audience doesn’t really exist anymore. the people who would love this book are 13 year olds in 2015.
i still liked it, mostly due to the nostalgia factor, and i’m going to reread the rest of the series. but this isn’t something i’d recommend to anyone in the 2020s.

This book was beyond awesome! It's totally gripping and has everything needed to make a five star, kick ass, YA story. From the bad-ass heroine, memorable lovable secondary characters, the bad boy romance, zombies and a shit load of action!
“He was gorgeous, and I absolutely, no question, had to be drooling. After a quick and hopefully stealthy check – big show, I wasn't!- I found myself wonder what color his eyes were. Brown maybe. Or even hazel. Either way…wow, just wow. Deer? Headlights? Hi, I’m Ali.”
It wasn't what i expected it was a million times better than what i expected, i loved Ali and Cole the pair of them are just so bad ass and swoon worthy! The action was rapid and the twists and turns were epic, every page is a unique treat and the mystery laced into the story still has me wondering who wrote the journal? Whats going on with Ali? there are so many questions left unanswered that i absolutely cannot wait until the soonest possible moment i am able to get my hands on Through The Zombie Glass and get my second dosing of Cole, since finishing it five minutes ago, i;m already having withdrawals!
“Yeah, okay. You're right. I was having dinner with Zombie Carl the other night. You know, steak, rare, and a bottle of vintage type A. He told me all his secrets, but too bad for you I promised him I wouldn't tell. In exchange I asked him to gather his best undead buddies and stalk me through my friend's yard. And oh, yeah, it was totally fine if they wanted to use me as an all-night-dinner buffet, because having organs is SO last year.”
Basically i thought this book was bloody fucking amazing and if you havent read it yet you need to do so, like. Now!

As a side note, 'cause everyone and their mama knows I don't actually ever write reviews even though I keep chirping I'll start soon:
I mean, let me tell you: if my future boyfriend bosses me around like that he's gonna be gone in a blink. I'm just saying.
Will read book too. Kat was my favourite character, hands down.

Zombies?!? Another zombie book? Yep, you bet. Another YA zombie book. I was interested to see how Alice in Wonderland would mix with zombies.
I must admit that I was a little disheartened when I first started reading because this book has nothing to do with Alice in Wonderland. Really. Don’t start reading this and expect to see the Mad Hatter, the Cheshire Cat, etc… You will be disappointed because they aren’t there. There is one slight reference (I won’t tell you so I don’t ruin it for you) but it really has nothing to do with the plot or characters of the famed story.
This YA book is about a 16 year old girl who loses her family and discovers that zombies her crazy dad kept talking about are real.
In this book, zombies lust for a person’s spirit rather than their flesh and blood. It is an interesting take on the mindless animates of most stories.
There are a few times when the writing was a bit sketchy and I questioned the logic or ‘reality’ but for the most part this was a very enjoyable book and I will definitely read the sequel when it comes out.

Is it bad that I liked a side character more than the main girl? We need to see a lot more of Kat!
