This was such a lovely read. I loved the diversity, the chronic pain/fibromyalgia rep, the romance, the characters, smudge, her ‘button’ nickname, him going to therapy unprovoked, and so much more. I love that they weee able to grow together and her cute sisters. Such a fun read.

I adore Talia Hibbert's writing. If she would stop referencing an antisemitic transphobe in literally ALL of her books, I would like them even more. Not just that, but if she could properly trigger warning her books. The entire Brown Sisters Trilogy has themes of car accidents but not once is there a warning for that. Car-related trauma is not taken seriously by the book community. In fact, it’s joked about and made into a lighthearted joke several times throughout this trilogy. Anyway, I really liked this first book! I read it in one four-hour sitting. Chloe and Red had a delightful dynamic. Chole was Autistic coded as fuck, which was a very fun reading experience as an Autistic reviewer. I loved all of the cat love in this. The sex scenes were done beautifully, as always. It was a very fun time! I loved Red's past and seeing him unpack and try to heal from the trauma his past relationship left. I think it was handled great!

CWs/TWs: HP reference, chronic illness, car accident, sexual content, toxic relationship (past).

I finished this book in merely two sittings, simply because you know, a chronically ill woman reading about another chronically ill woman’s love life gets reminded of the fact that she should get some sleep once in a while. Do I still cringe at certain descriptions in romance novels? For sure. Am I still convinced this book is revolutionary in more ways than one? No doubt about it.

The representation in this book means so much to me, as someone who’s been struggling with chronic pain, fatigue and the insecurities that come along with it for free. Be sure to pick it up if you like the enemies-to-lovers trope with a dual point of view, love cats just as much as I do, are into artsy guys and can strongly identify with a disabled, Black and/or curvy female protagonist. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫 (4.5 out of 5 stars) from me!

Although I’d say the writing style isn’t anything extraordinary, it’s a quick and fun read and even though there were a little too many sh*ts and f*cks and other inappropriate words according to my personal taste (I’m more of a poetic descriptions kinda gal), I’m sure this book (especially Red’s way of paying attention to and caring for Chloe) will hold a place in my heart for quite a while.

Very cute and enjoyable, if at times a little dull.
