Exactly. It's my lucky coin. But as I said, luck has got nothing to do with it.
You have been counting rosary beads for an era
But the wandering of your mind does not halt
Forsake the beads in your hand
And start moving the beads of your heart.
There is a lot to unpack in this novel. The plot, and multitude of vividly unique and colorful characters add to the rawness and fierceness of the book. I enjoyed reading it thoroughly, and had moments where it brought me to tears. I love books that can be analyzed from multiple perspectives, and this book is just that. It can can be looked at from different lenses like the Marxist, Psychoanalytic, and the Feminist.
Ps. Slumdog Millionaire (movie) is nothing like the book.
It is in the genes of cities to bounce back from disasters - whether natural or man made. The denizens of suburbia have no choice but to survive and move on. But it is the manner in which different cities respond to emergencies that sets them apart.
Mrs. Swapna Devi if this is your palace and you are it's queen, then acknowledge the prince.
I liked how the story was laid out, each chapter telling the story of how Ram knew the answers to each question. I would love to watch the movie now to get real ("Hollywood") images of India :)

I'm so conflicted about this rating. Slumdog Millionaire is one of my favourite films so I loved the concept of this, and some of the differences in plot were really interesting to see.
However, the way this was written at times felt so awkward, especially a lot of the dialogue. Also a lot of what happened very much felt too convenient but I did have a good time reading it so?
