Prep school college admissions murder & scandal after scandal, that was a twisty ride, I had no idea who to trust which just felt cold & unsettling, but I loved it.
this was really fun to read and when i found out the murderer it made sense... but that motive was just
dark
mysterious
tense
medium-paced

I read this entire book in one sitting and I regret absolutely nothing.
The premise for The Ivies on its own should make you want to read it straight away: Five girls who have the mission to get into the Ivy League in any way they can, including of course sabotaging their classmates in order to make themselves look better.
This book was punchy and engaging and always mysterious enough to keep me wanting to figure it all out. And I must say some of the twists and turns on it I never saw coming.
If you're a fan of YA thrillers/murder mysteries this is definitely one that you can't miss!

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read an ARC of this fun YA thriller!
I absolutely love the mean girls/boarding school thriller genre, and The Ivies is a great addition to it! The main character, Olivia, is very relatable and sympathetic, and I really enjoyed getting to know her and watching the events in the book develop through her eyes. I absolutely loved the twists and turns in the plot, and, though I was pretty sure who committed the murder before the end, I still enjoyed watching Olivia and the other characters figure it out. I thought all the characters were complex and well fleshed out, and the shifting allegiances and secrets revealed kept the story moving at a super fast pace.
Definitely recommend!

Overall, this was a fun read, though the drama was a bit over the top in some moments. I was a bit disappointed as I went into this expecting a dark academia book and, though it did have a bit of that atmosphere, it felt more like just a YA thriller that happened to take place in a private school environment. I will say it was very strange to read references to the COVID-19 pandemic in a book.

I’m happy to be able to say that I really enjoyed this one. I did end up with a lot figured out, including the murderer, but not the motive. Honestly, the motive was kind of a let-down after everything that happened. Revue to come.
You know what? I loved this lmao why do I love rich teen prep school murder stories? I don't know. but I do. This one kept me hooked and I was second guessing the murderer basically up to the reveal! I think it fell off a little bit there at the end and probably could have ended like 2 chapters sooner but honestly. I'm satisfied. It was fun
