This was on track to be a very rare 5* book except towards the end — I loved everything to do with the house/s, property, forest, cave but didn’t like how it extended to the friend's house. Where was he staying while she was in the hospital, and why didn’t he get worse? Still loved it though, and the descent into madness.

The beginning was intriguing, and chapters flew by fast. However, I was hoping for more of a spooky, can't read this in the dark haunted house horror book and aside from a couple creepy scenes this was not it.

I started to lose interest about half way, until I didn't care and got lost. That being said I did finish it and had the feeling that it wasn't quite worth pushing through.

2/5⭐
All I can say is "MEH" DNF this book skipped to the end. Even with the short chapters it felt painful and not scary to get through this. Though I will say that the beginning of this had promise which is why I'm giving it 2 stars.
