Since the first Fool's Gold book I read was number 9, I was already familiar a little with some of the characters. Starting at the beginning, I am liking how i'm seeing everything unfolding.

Kind of SPoiler!!!!!!!

As for this particular story itself, I really enjoyed watching Josh and Charity dance around each other. I always feel a little annoyed when one character has such strong prejudiced feelings against a certain (perceived) type of person, or they don't value themselves enough. Aside from that, I liked the story of Josh overcoming his fears, and how he dealt with what happened. Really really loved how the town knew the problem all along..lol...

As regular readers of my blog, you know I love this author's writing! She is an auto-buy for me when she has new books being released. When this book was released, I immediately bought it!

Welcome to Fool's Gold! The way the author set up the town was amazing. I instantly felt like I was part of the town. The characters were enjoyable and the writing was great! Charity is an independent woman who gets a new job as city planner in a town that is lacking men. She is introduced to Josh, who is a retired world-class cyclist trying to lay low in his hometown.

Yes, it's the typical girl meets boy, girl falls for boy, they fall madly in love kind of story, but there is so much more that is involved in the story that you forget about the basic principles of the romance genre. It has suspense in the form of a thief, side characters that will keep you laughing and curious to read their stories in future books, and romance that will leave your heart fluttering.

I so enjoyed visiting Fool's Gold and I can't wait to read the next book in the series. If Fool's Gold were a real town, I would be moving there in a heartbeat!

A light read when I needed it, and a good start to a series.

I thought the names Charity and Crystal were too similar.

Loved that the town of Fool's Gold hosts a Race for the Cure. Does my ZTA heart good.

Hmmmmm.... I enjoyed reading this book. Enjoyed the characters. But... Something was missing and somethings could have been missed. I get it. Josh is beautiful. But why was Charity's last relationship bad? That was a big part of the story that wasn't discussed. And why is there a Starbucks in this small town? There seems to often be Starbucks in small towns in novels. Why does this matter to me? Because I do live in a small town, and feel quite deprived not having a Starbucks of my very own. I digress. I plan on reading the next story but I wish this one had been rounded out a little.

I loved reading this book. This is my second time reading this book the first was years ago when I was in high school I bought myself the sequel first not knowing it was one but I loved it to try the first one this book and loved it even more. I was obsessed with romance novels back than they were my guilty pleasure. Now rereading this book and remembering everything I fell in love with the characters, the writing style and romance I couldn't put it down. I have only been reading fantasy and Scifi books the past years and this was a fresh of breath air. I found myself laughing and smiling throughout the whole book. I definitely would recommend this to anyone especially to all those who love to read a small town love story.
