Hmmmmm.... I enjoyed reading this book. Enjoyed the characters. But... Something was missing and somethings could have been missed. I get it. Josh is beautiful. But why was Charity's last relationship bad? That was a big part of the story that wasn't discussed. And why is there a Starbucks in this small town? There seems to often be Starbucks in small towns in novels. Why does this matter to me? Because I do live in a small town, and feel quite deprived not having a Starbucks of my very own. I digress. I plan on reading the next story but I wish this one had been rounded out a little.

I loved reading this book. This is my second time reading this book the first was years ago when I was in high school I bought myself the sequel first not knowing it was one but I loved it to try the first one this book and loved it even more. I was obsessed with romance novels back than they were my guilty pleasure. Now rereading this book and remembering everything I fell in love with the characters, the writing style and romance I couldn't put it down. I have only been reading fantasy and Scifi books the past years and this was a fresh of breath air. I found myself laughing and smiling throughout the whole book. I definitely would recommend this to anyone especially to all those who love to read a small town love story.

Sweet and predictable; I suspect if I read too many more of this series in a row the cuteness would start to grate but one was very pleasant.

Susan Mallery is a wonderful writer and this book tells a great story. I love the characters and how relatable their feelings are. The story feels real and I can't wait to read the next one!

Chasing Perfect was an enjoyable read. It wasn't my favorite of the series, but it wasn't my least favorite either. I did like both Charity and Josh and watching them get together.

Charity moves to Fool's Gold to be the new city planner. She falls in love with the town and wants to put down roots. Growing up she was always moving from place to place with her mom and she wants stability now. Maybe a nice, good guy. Not the flashy bad boy like her mom always fell for. Not the kind of guy who made her mom move them yet again when things didn't work out.

Josh has inner demons he is struggling with. He was a pro cyclist, but after an accident where a team mate died he cannot ride in a group anymore. He blames himself, and also is terrified that he will be next. After his wife left him when he couldn't ride again he knows he is not good for anyone. He needs to fix himself before he can be with someone, before he will be deserving of someone else.

That was until he meets Charity. They are both drawn to the other, but both try to stay away since the other is not what they want. Charity doesn't want to be in the lime light. She just wants a nice, normal stable family life. Josh doesn't think he deserves Charity. Neither can ignore how drawn they are to the other person. They were great together and Charity really sees Josh. She tries to help him with his demons. Of course everything works out in the end, but getting there was fun to read. The ending, where Charity lays down an ultimatum then realizes her mistake, was alright. I am glad she finally took the time to think about everything from Josh's point of view and realize he needed to do what he needed to do. Only then could he feel whole enough to be with her. It was a cute read. Now on to the next Fool's Gold book!

This was another book that goes in the category - not bad, but not exciting either. I don't know, maybe it was the fact that in a city with not many "available men" the heroine, Charity (what an uninspired name!!!), suddenly has the most wanted eligible bachelor interested in her. Same goes for a very nice guy at her work. How lucky is that!?!? Just like in real life... (yeah, I'm being sarcastic).

The book is not bad, but it's very cliche, but I guess, most contemporary romance books are.

Recommended: To anyone who enjoys romance cliches.

As always, Mallery comes through. This was lots of fun, humorous, not taxing on my brain and it all worked out as it should. This was a stressful week and I was glad for an enjoyable romance to relax with. Reading romances, for me, is like eating a box of chocolates. Fortunately the calories don't add up as quickly.

I recommend Susan Mallery for readers who like Susan Elizabeth Phillips and Jennifer Crusie. I would even suggest her books for those who like Janet Evanovich because of the humor.

Love Susan Mallery. Perfect amount of plot twists in this one, although def chick lit, not dark.

Chasing Perfect

This was the first fools gold book I have read. Within the matter of a few pages I was hooked. I am thrilled that there are a number of books in this series to get me busy!
