Enjoyed this one more than the previous installment, though can’t say why. Looking forward to finishing out the last of the series.

Not the best from the series. Clary became even MORE frustrating to read from, her decisions were baffling at points.
Points for Simon's character progression, for sure the best part of the book.
The writting is very repetitive at times, same things pointed out all the time and even quotes from the page before plastered.
Whilst reading, the Clary sections were for sure the worst. They felt so detached from the plot at times it was jarring.
Overall felt like a skipable book except for maybe 4/5 chapters.

I put this book down for about 4 years (I lost it when I moved houses during uni and am too stubborn to get it again). Finally found it about a week ago and LOVED IT! Smashed my way through this and the next book, finishing the series. My reading list for this week? Tales from the Shadowhunters Academy and Lady Midnight here I come!

having read the previous 4 books in this series, I was slightly disappointed by this one. There was not a lot going on, in terms of resolving conflicts. Sure, some new characters were introduced, but questions about them weren't answered. There as unresolved tention between Jace and Clary, and I hope that that gets solved in the next book.

I am bumping this book down or four star because while I enjoyed it there was one thing that bothered me, and that was how clairy seemed to keep forgetting why she was actually with jase and Jonathan.

So watching their side of things just felt like intruding on a three-person date a lot of the time

This book was so difficult to get through, but easier than Fallen Angels. It could have been shorter. There were many moments that just felt unnecessary. For example, a lot of romance scenes, which is weird because normally I like Cassandra Clare's romance scenes. In fact, that's why I read her books. But for some reason I just found them unnecessary.

I liked the ending.
Clary stabbing Jace was probably my favorite part of the whole book as well as the epilogue where she asks for forgiveness. But Jace would rather be dead than be a monster.
It was just hard to get there.
