This book was so difficult to get through, but easier than Fallen Angels. It could have been shorter. There were many moments that just felt unnecessary. For example, a lot of romance scenes, which is weird because normally I like Cassandra Clare's romance scenes. In fact, that's why I read her books. But for some reason I just found them unnecessary.

I liked the ending.
Clary stabbing Jace was probably my favorite part of the whole book as well as the epilogue where she asks for forgiveness. But Jace would rather be dead than be a monster.
It was just hard to get there.

I really wanted to like it. The previous two books that I read in the series I enjoyed quite a bit, otherwise I wouldn't have continued with the streak. But man, this one was a rough one for me.

The only reason I'm giving it two stars is because how good of a villain Sebastian is, he is truly terrifying and he just keeps getting worse. I think he was constructed beautifully as a villain because partly I could tell what was the reasoning behind his actions.

In this book it really shows that it was written for, I guess, needy teenagers because every time that any of the couples was alone, it turned into a charged make-out fest. When it happened the first few times, it was fine, but when that became a constant pattern with slightly cringy and cheesy wording, the book lost me and I despised each scene where a couple was alone as I knew what was to follow.

Only one more book to go before I complete the series, I'm getting my hopes up for the big finale!

This book... could've ended the series. but noooooooo MORE they shouted! MORE they wanted! So More they shall get!

The sibling in love troupe has got to stop *shudder* again, I think I understand what the author was going for but I was at the gym when I was listening to it and I was completely grossed out. With everything else weird going on in our world can we not add that one! NO, just no. That's why it lost a star honestly.

I feel like Simon finally got some slack and got some time to shine. yay.

I'm ready for this series to be over. Honestly.

AHHGG so good, the amount of love I feel for Magnus and Alec is insane

The 4th book leaves off on a cliffhanger so finally getting to read this book was great! It takes a closer look at Clary's relationships and also the corrupt government of the shadow hunters and an oncoming war.

I will start this by saying I loved this when it was a trilogy. I loved Clary, I kind of had a crush on Jace and I shipped Simon and Tessa, from her ~other series. It was fun and overdramatic and there were creatures, I couldn't not love this.

That's how, even though I disliked CoFA, I gave this a chance. I thought it would be like going on a third date with a guy who was nice on the first and boring on the second. I was wrong - this was like giving a second chance to the worst ex-boyfriend in history. The one who cheated on you with your best friend on your birthday and in front of everyone you know. Oh, and he never returned anything you left at his place.

Therefore, I read this even thought the synopsis gave no reason to believe the series got better. I was on vacation, I was bored and it helped me fulfill my book challenge. Clary was boooooring, Jace was Jace (as in, he gets worse with each book) and their relationship was just one long whine. Oh God, the whining. I'm used to a chapter or three of whining in every YA book I read, because they are teens and the world (their parents) conspires against them. But this took the cake, I actually napped halfway through it and I only napped during a book twice before.

This was horrible and I quit, Cassie. Even though I should have quitted during the Draco Dormiens fanfiction trilogy.
