Everything is on point... except for Jace.
HE'S SO ANNOYING. The character is so boring, the "I'm tortured and handsome and loved but I hate myself so I use sarcasm" type, seen, seen and seen again. Ugh.
BUT the plot is really amazing, it's very breathtaking and it's nothing seem before, also Sebastian is a veeeery good character !

I honestly do love this series. I know, I know- I'm not saying it doesn't have it's flaws. It's melodramatic, contrived, and at times just plain shallow and silly, but that's why I'm not doling out literary awards here. Just explaining what I enjoy and what I don't- and I enjoy this series. It's entertaining and fun and gets you all riled up in fantastical frenzies of epic battles, demon fighting, and twisted drama. I have spent so long wrapped up in this world, that I almost feel guilty giving it a less than stellar rating.
But I just can't with this one.
The story is good, but the execution just fell apart somewhere. There was no definitive voice, like Simon's in COFA, or Clary's throughout the first three. And without it the book just seemed to trudge on, with no rhyme or reason, for far too long. Whole storylines could have been completely eliminated *cough Jordan and Maia cough* and others just lacked the usual heightened excitement. Like Jace throughout most of the book, I felt like I was looking at a shadowy, murky version of the series I love, one that didn't strike a chord the way the others did, especially the first trilogy. And the last bit was too ridiculous even for me. Really? Why and how was that necessary? It's been five books, can we please get over this no-touching-allowed-romantic-angst stuff? These characters need to show their growth and change, that's what keeps them real.
I still am a lover of this world, so I will stick around for the final showdown, but it's gonna need to be a hell of a finale to make up for this.

KILL ME NOW.

So yet again I can't put it in my classroom but rereading the start was fun for me
