A significant improvement from Iron Flame. Much better paced and better edited! Good fun and gripping.

Significantly underwhelmed. I’m calling it quits with series. The felt like a filler book and does not need to be a 5 book series. 

Yarros has never been a strong writer in my opinion but I like her plot twists in previous books but this one did not work for me. The writing was so bad. 

The pacing was off. Slow and then way too much at once and then slow again. 

The world building was atrocious. Clearly the world was expanded mid series and I felt the lack of planning. Also lazy by publishing not to update the map. 

The character development was lacking. I was absolutely sick of the possessive “mine” talk. 

The 3 other POVs at the end felt random when the rest of the book is Violet’s POV. 

I liked a portion in the middle and the dragons but I don’t have faith in this author to make the next 2 books worth my time. There are better books out there.

The first 50% was slow going. I didn't want to rush because I didn't want to be done with the book. But once you hit the halfway mark, there is not turning back.

Best book of series so far! I loved the world-building with the Isle Kingdoms and the Irids. The cliff hanger will definitely have me eagerly awaiting the next book!
