Sometimes I feel that the author is just writing to extend the pages, which in a series like this is not the best option. There were times that I felt this book was just a filler for the series, yes there were adventures and missions, but the beginning was just... there. I also felt that towards the end of the book (mostly) there were some strange things in the vocabulary used. I mean, the book is written for a general audience (as in vocabulary) so when all of a sudden a word used in a higher range of vocabulary appears in the middle of a relatively easy sentence to read it is just weird.
There is a lot of inconsistency too about how the characters act in the difference settings (and no, it is not because they are soldiers trained for war) and how they react to everything that happens to them.
Nevertheless, the ending is set perfectly for the next book, which I hope comes out rather sooner than later, as I want to know what happens next.

A highly anticipated third book that I devoured but which is not an absolute favorite
I just finished this book after spending a week sleeping very little and dreaming of being able to skip work to continue reading ><
Like the two previous ones, it is an addictive book that I devoured with great pleasure ! It has its flaws but that doesn't mean I didn't enjoy reading it =)
I advise you to reread at least the previous book before reading this one because apart from a few characters, I had forgotten half of the names and it was quite disconcerting at first xD
What I particularly liked :
- the universe ! For me, it's one of the big strong points of this book because there is such a richness around religions, cultures, languages ... I would have liked the heroes to spend much more time on the islands to explore them !
- the roooomaaaance !! It's the second big strong point !! I love all this tension between Xaden and Violet throughout the book, the hyper pfioulala moments but in reality what I prefer is the fact that they love each other and that they don't hesitate to tell it to each other ... and that they are ready to cross all the limits, even the most horrible ones and that makes them so much more interesting and human ! (And OK Xaden is so sexy when he's in overprotective mode ><)
- the few touches of humor that made me laugh (special mention for the scene in the bookstore xD I was DEAD !)
What I liked less :
- I would have liked the plot to go further and especially I had the impression that the part with the gods came out of nowhere ... I don't remember seeing that in the previous books and I'm not sure it's very useful ...
- this ending just ... too weird xD Besides the fact that it's very similar to what we had in the previous book on certain aspects, I had the impression that I was missing pages because it didn't make any sense ><
In short, a sexy and tension-filled romance that I devoured ! For me, it remains a must-read but without being a favorite that I would reread several times ...
I am impatiently waiting for the next book even if to be honest, I would have preferred it to remain a trilogy ><
(I'm afraid it will be like Blood and Ash by Jennifer L. Armentrout that I more or less abandoned because it dragged on ><)

The book was wonderful. It was a worth the wait and the anticipation. I think this might be the best one yet. I'm literally in tears at the minute. Emotions are definitely running.
I loved that it picked up right where Iron Flame left off and it developed from there. The story was just so beautifully written. I love this world a lot. The flight leathers are away until our next journey in the series.
The characters were brilliant as always. Violet was definitely more tolerable compared to Iron Flame. Xaden is Xaden. Can't say much else! The other existing characters were good and worked in the scheme of things. A handful of new characters were introduced and they were great.
The dragons. I love them. Aside from Tairn, Andarna and Sgaeyl, we get a glimpse of the sassy attitude of Feirge and the no nonsense one of Glane. Tairn is still a grump but a funny one. If it was acceptable for a dragon to be a book boyfriend, he would be a top candidate. Andarna is her usual sassy and sometimes petulant self. Sgaeyl is well Sgaeyl. I love her.
The book is written entirely in first person. The book is mostly Violet's POV. We do however have one chapter each from Rhiannon, Imogen and Xaden. I really liked this and it worked well.
The dedication at the start was perfection. It felt like I'm being described. Thank you Rebecca.
I can't recommend this book and series enough. I love it.

I appreciate that Xaden and Violet actually spoke to each other this time (mostly). I know we’re in the middle of the story but there’s so many loose ends and I have more questions than answers. I can’t imagine what could happen in two more books…
