I'm not sure I understand the hate for this book. Does the overall plot progress much from where we ended Iron Flame? Not really. But honestly? I enjoyed the journey anyway.

The writing hasn’t improved since the first book—still clunky in places, still overly dramatic—but at this point, I’m past the point of caring. If you’re looking for a beautifully written work of art, this is not the series for you. But if you’re here for dragons, drama, and emotionally messy characters doing their best in a high-stakes world? You’ll probably have a good time.

Despite its flaws, I truly enjoyed the story on a basic level. It scratched that fantasy-romance itch, and I’m definitely looking forward to seeing how things unfold in the next book.
Is it high literature? Nope. Did I have fun? Absolutely.

The plot I was really in kind of wrapped up midway through and I wasn’t really vibing with the drama between characters so I read the last page to decide if I wanted to stick with it and I decided not to.
